My wishes for my readers on various platforms on Chinese New Year's Eve.
Today (Feb 9) is the last day of Chinese New Year (CNY) with Rabbit as the Chinese zodiac as the Chinese will welcome Year of the Loong tomorrow. As in past practices on my Linked page, I take the opportunity to commemorate the last day of the year with a Spring Festival couplet (ๆฅ่) which reflects my wishes for the world and also demonstrates an appreciation for my readers. Since I have a Substack page now which is like a digital home, and hence there is a digital door here for me to hang my couplet ๐ . As I usually share my Substack post on FB and X, I hope you would have my CNY blessings too.
During CNY, Chinese family will paste Spring Festival couplet on either sides of their doors to express sincere blessings and good wishes. The other practice is to paste the Good Fortune Character ็ฆ (called ่ดด็ฆๅญ) on the door itself. Here in Singapore where I am from, ่ดด็ฆๅญ is more common than ๆฅ่.
CNY symbolises a fresh start for the Chinese as you take the opportunity to take stock of what happened in the past year & look forward to the new year with some aspirations. So it is like a reboot button and thus whatever bad happened in the past year would be purged and the new year is a fresh start.
Last year my couplet was
"The Tiger rushed for thousands of miles and left behind a trail of its imposing might
The Rabbit enters tens of thousands of families to bring them auspiciousness"
It turned out the Rabbit was wild as it behaved like it was very hungry and so went around to destroy the farms i.e. Earth and we had a no. of catastrophes like earthquakes, wars etc and disruptions like AI.
So this year I hope our Loong friend would help us earthlings by โscaring off" potential catastrophes with its might, and so my couplet for this year is

May you have a bountiful and fulfilling Loong Year ahead! Or in Singapore, we will say everyone ๐
